    Bernard Buffet (July 1928 – October 1999) was a French painter of Expressionism and Member of the Anti-Abstract Art Group “The Witness-Man”.

    Buffet was born in Paris, France, and studied art there at the National School of the Fine Arts. He created more than 8.000 paintings and many prints as well.

    In 1958 the New York Times magazine ranked him one of France’s Fabulous Young Five alongside such contemporaries as Yves Saint-Laurent.
